“Successful people are simply those with successful habits.”
- Brian Tracy
Quote of the Day.
If you think it is nit-picking to examine the mundane, daily habits of your life, consider today’s quote by Brian Tracy. He asserts here that successful people simply have successful habits. This should sound familiar, since the idea is similar to that of a well-known book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey.
The daily routines and the ingrained trigger/response mechanisms of successful people are tuned toward success. Successful habits could be something as simple as the response to a ringing phone. The phone rings? This triggers a “success” response inside the person before they even answer it. The result is a conversation that starts on a positive note and moves in a positive direction.
Unfortunately, we do not all have successful habits. The good news is we can PROGRAM positive habits into ourselves. If we currently have a negative response to a ringing phone (“Interruption!”), we can rewire ourselves to have a positive response (“Opportunity!”) if we put forth the necessary effort.
The first step is to develop a habit of critical self-evaluation. What habits do you have that contribute to success? What habits do you have that don’t? Find those points, begin to rework them, and bring about successful habits in your own life!
