“If anyone on the verge of action should judge himself according to the outcome, he would never begin.”
- Soren Kierkegaard, Fear and Trembling
Today’s quote is another from Danish philosopher, Soren Kierkegaard. The idea here is that nobody would ever take action if they could see exactly what the end result was going to be.
For most of life’s ventures, the end result will not be exactly what we envision at the start. Perhaps there will be hangups or hiccups along the way. Perhaps the path to the end will be a longer or more difficult route than we think at first. If we let that stop us, our dreams have no chance at success – and that is definitely not the outcome we want.
So at least for today, don’t concern yourself with the outcome – concern yourself with beginning!
