“Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.”
- William Jennings Bryan
Today’s quote is a short one, but critical for all of us. It is a statement about how we should view the idea of “destiny” and how we ought to live our lives. Destiny, as described here, is a matter of choosing your path and striving toward it.
Unfortunately for many people in our world, destiny seems to be something they wait for. If we wait, they assume, our life’s grand destiny will unfold before us. In one sense, this is very true! If we sit and wait, our destiny will unfold before us. However, the lackluster result will not be the stuff of dreams.
There is good news though! The good news is that a change in destiny is only a short decision away. Decide where you want your life to be and consciously choose that path. Then act – take your first step in that direction! By changing course, you are changing your destiny.
