“Stop settling for what’s good enough and start creating art that matters. Stop asking what’s in it for you and start giving gifts that change people. Then, and only then, will you have achieved your potential.”
- Linchpin, by Seth Godin
In the Introduction to the book Linchpin by Seth Godin, there is this little nugget of wisdom that refers to creating art that matters and achieving our full potential.
This is not referring to art in the classic sense – it is not telling us that we should drop what we’re doing to create water color pictures, or develop our meeting-induced notepad doodling skills. This quote is in reference to the work that we do, and the way that we think about the work that we do.
The full title of this book is “Linchpin: Are you Indispensable?“. By changing the way we think about our work, by creating art that matters – we can move farther down the road to achieving our full potential.
