Confront Your Fears

Confront our Fear“Confront your fears, list them, get to know them, and only then will you be able to put them aside and move ahead.”

- Jerry Gillies

Quote of the Day.

One requirement to overcome our fear of failure is to confront that fear and understand it.  Once we understand the fear, we can work past it and continue pushing towards our goal.  That is what we have been doing throughout the course of this week.  Discussing our fear  of failure has helped us (hopefully!) to confront it.

Today’s quote by Jerry Gillies emphasizes the importance of this confrontation:  only after confronting fear will we be able to move ahead – But we must move ahead!

Keep in mind:  The act of listing-and-knowing our fears is not the same as acting toward our goals.  Often, people will get caught up in the act of knowing their fears but will never move beyond it to true action.  They trick themselves into thinking that they are making progress, but the reality is they are falling victim to their fear and paralyzing themselves.

Moving ahead is a necessary part of this process that cannot be ignored!  Moving ahead is THE thing that gets us past our fears.  Unfortunately, “move ahead” is probably the least stressed portion of Mr. Gillies quote above.  Perhaps a paraphrase is in order:

“Confront your fears, list them, get to know them, and only then will you be able to put them aside by moving ahead!

Hopefully you have spent some time confronting your fears this week – now make sure you are moving forward!
